On opening .ogv totem show blank black screen until menu item is clicked

Binary package hint: totem

When I double click a .ogv movie or other movie file, it is shown a second in Totem and then the screen turns black. The movie does continue to play and sound is heard. When I click on any Totem menu item the video is shown as well. Very odd

that seems to be a video issue, do you get the same using gst-launch playbin2 uri=file:///path/to/file ? which video driver and card are you using there? Thanks.

I opened another type of file (Matroska Video) and had a black screen on startup. Clicking on a menu item showed the video again.
