3) To hear any sound while reproducing videos on youtube, for instance.

4) no sound at all (only while running firefox). Flash plugins versions are both displayed beeing 10.1 r52 and 10.0 r22, but when I disable the former, I can not see any video, either. That's the reason I believe that the new version became corrupted.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Did you install 10 r22 manually? I suggest removing it or moving it out of the way. Also, your crossover office flash plugin is being detected. That might be affecting things as well.

Hi Micah, thank you for prompt answer. No, I did not install the plugin manually. At least not from Adobe's website; may be enabling the plugin via a repository. I had no problems up to Saturday with the plugins acting as they do (10.1 r53 and crossover's), but after watchig a video on youtube, I had no sound any more. After that, I tried to disable 10 r22, but that made things go worse, since I could not see anything, because no flash plugin was loaded. Enabling 10 r22 again, let me see, but no hear.

Ah, I forgot to mention: I saw a "flash plugin crashed" message twice on Saturday, after the sound problem arised, but before I disabled 10 r22.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Please provide the results of the following command run in a terminal:

apt-cache policy swfdec-mozilla mozilla-plugin-gnash adobe-flashplugin

This will let us know what flash players you have installed so that we can better diagnose your issue. Thank you.

Yes, but I don't recall the package name offhand, it should have flash
and 64 in it somewhere.

I guess that I don't have that plugin installed. Couldn't find anything related with flash*64 .

Problem appears system-wide. I logged in on another user's account on the same machine and the problem remains.
