Bug Description
Hi,
I am not a developer, but I have been involved with getting several small mobile singe page sheetfed scanners supported by sane.
I have tested simple scan with several of these.
1. GT68xx backend: a genius colorpage SF600 seems to work fine
2. Plustek backend: Visioneer XP 100, rev. 2 seems to work ok
3. Gensys backend: Visioneer XP 100, rev. 3 and Ambir DocketPort 485 have issues. On initial attempt, the scanner feeds in page a few inches then stalls, and nothing happens. If I jiggle the paper after I press scan, it will start to scan and the image will appear on the screen, but the scanner continues to go and go and the image disappears and I have to hit the stop icon to get it to stop. These scanners work ok with Xsane and gscan2pdf. I suspect the problem has to do with the paper sense switch.
Another Bug/Feature Request:
The sheetfed scanners are calibrated with a calibration paper and the calibration data is stored in a hidden folder in ~/.sane.
Could you add an option to calibrate these scanners?
Thank you.
The issue with the genesys sheetfed scanners has been resolved. It was an issue with the genesys backend, not the simple scan frontend. Thanks to Stef Voltz, genesys backend maintainer. This bug can be marked fixed.
I would still like to have the calibration feature added to simple scan. I am not sure if I should open a new bug report for this. As a quick summary, most sheetfed scanners are calibrated with a calibration paper, and calibration data is stored in a hidden folder. I could donate a scanner to your project, if would help.
