Bug Description

With Maverick, I am seeing that once my monitor starts to dim, after an idle period, neither the mouse nor keyboard is able to cancel the operation. I have to wait for the state transition to complete, and then awaken the monitor and authenticate. But a further note is that this is only 95% or so consistent. Very occasionally, the state transition will cancel, suggesting that there may be a race condition involved.

My screen saver settings are:

   screensaver: blank screen
   Idle time: 5 min
   Activate screensaver when idle: ON
Lock screen when screensaver is active: ON

Power management settings are:

Put display to sleep when inactive for: 30 mins
  Dim display when idle: OFF

Based on those settings, and the particular idle time in which the event occurs, my supposition is that it is the screensaver subsystem causing the issue.
