Pidgin hangs when a gmail user initiates a voice chat

When somebody initiates a voice chat using gtalk on their end I get incoming chat request and the pidgin and the dialogbox hangs and I have to manually kill the pidgin process and re login.

I had the same issue until I went to Tools > Plugins > Voice/Video settings and put everything to "Default".

Pidgin (2.7.1) has not crashed since.

@panopticon, Thanks, that plugin was disabled on my pidgin for some reason. However my pidgin says its 2.6.6, are you using Lucid provided version of Pidgin ?

@ hummerbliss: go to http://www.pidgin.im/download/ubuntu/ and dowload the Pidgin PPA. Run "Update Manager" and should be provided with the latest version of Pidgin currently available from the official PPA.
