Bug Description

Binary package hint: unison

Per <https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unison/+bug/229603> unison can only talk to precisely the same remote version of unison.

In previous releases this was handled by shipping multiple packaged versions so one had a chance of manually selecting a common one.

However Lucid only has 2.27 and Maverick only has 2.32 so there is no way to synchronize files between them, which kind of sucks. It would be nice if Maverick added a unison-2.27 package.

FWIW, I successfully downgraded unison in a netbook running Maverick to sync it with a home server running Lucid - simply downloading the .deb (unison_2.27.57-2ubuntu2_i386) from the Lucid repositories and installing it in Maverick using dpkg.
So far, it syncs without problem.

Installing unison_2.32.52-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb in Lucid 10.04 works perfectly.
