Bug Description

Maverick Alpha2 Netbook edition. In a Laptop with NVIDIA Graphic card (Dell Inspiron 1520) the Netbook launcher doesn't start.

Thanks for testing UNE and opening this bug.

There is no more netbook-launcher in maverick, it's unity which is used now from alpha2 by default.
Unity doesn't have any fallback system for 2D drivers like netbook-launcher had, there is a spec about that.

We don't have the resources to develop both 2D and 3D versions, so Unity is 3D only.

Hello Mark,

I opened this bug while ISO Testing. Are we going to workaround this problem forcing the proprietary drivers installation on the first boot or we will leave it in this way? In this case we would stop ISO testing UNE with laptops with this kind of video cards.

We can use that, but be clear it's not a 2D version of Unity, and will
fall further and further behind.

using efl launcher sounds interesting, especially considering that the Arm version will use it
