Ya, thats annoying. Do this:

./autogen.sh --enable-debug=yes
make clean
make install

Just wanted to comment that this behavior has come back in a recent revision. I am on 1616 now and have had to run --enable-debug=yes and make clean in my last two pulls from launchpad. :)

@Chris: stop messing with the build system unless you test it thoroughly! :)

That means testing each build argument separately on fresh checkouts.

just didn't test the case of 0 build arguments!
