Bug Description

All translations for the desktop files of KDE are not imported to Rosetta. At the moment at least the following translations are affected:

desktop-adept
desktop-amarok
desktop-guidance
desktop-katapult
desktop-kde-systemsettings
desktop-kdeaccessibility
desktop-kdeadmin
desktop-kdeartwork
desktop-kdebase
desktop-kdegames
desktop-kdegraphics
desktop-kdelibs
desktop-kdemultimedia
desktop-kdenetwork
desktop-kdenetworkmanager
desktop-kdetoys
desktop-kdeutils
desktop-kdewebdev
desktop-keep
desktop-konversation
desktop-kopete

Please fix this issue before anyone starts to translate these files once again.

I don't see any .po file in our import queue.

The only .po files I see are for koffice's desktop files, but I don't see any .pot file for it so those are not being imported.

Jonathan, could you check it?. I think it's more a problem with kde-i18n-* packages than other thing. Those templates didn't exist for Dapper, I just imported them in Rosetta for Edgy, would be possible that KDE didn't release a language pack with the translations included?

These templates are at least translatable upstream in KDE's svn and they are probably translated for the mayority of languages.

But it is possible that the .po files are not included in the release because the translations are included in the .desktop files, which are generated from these translations.

Hmmm, in that case, it's not a bug in Rosetta but a problem with kde-i18n packages.

Jonathan, you should add those .po files inside our kde-i18n packages as we need them to get translations from on run time.

As requested this is the list of the still missing desktop-* imports:

desktop-adept
desktop-amarok
desktop-guidance
desktop-gwenview
desktop-katapult
desktop-kde-systemsettings
desktop-kdebluethooth
desktop-kdenetworkmanager
desktop-keep (perhaps not included in kde's svn?)
desktop-konversation
desktop-kopete (perhaps use the 3.5.5 version since it is kopete 0.12!)

For Feisty the situations seems to have improved a lot, but the following desktop-* files have not been imported or are in an old version (from edgy?) in Rosetta:

desktop-kaffeine
desktop-kde-guidance
desktop-kde-systemsettings
desktop-kdebase
desktop-kdenetwork
desktop-kdenetworkmanager
desktop-kdeutils
desktop-kmplayer (also kmplayer itself is missing)
desktop-kopete
desktop-digikam (also digikam itself is missing)
desktop-kdeaddons
desktop-kdeedu
desktop-kipi-plugins

There is still no solution for this issue. No upstream translations for desktop-* files get imported to Rosetta automatically.

Atm for example desktop-kdepim... And of cause updates for all desktop-* files above...

This was broken and then fixed again right before Kubuntu 9.04 was released. But new issues of the like warrant new bugs so that they get proper visibility and so that we don't mix symtoms with solutions, etc.
