It's not fun to use synaptic because update-manager always wants to remove xcreensaver which I use because its 'xscreensaver-
Please have update-manager not always want to remove xscreensaver.

I'd just like to add that that this also affects KDE users. In my opinion Xscreensaver is simply better in every way than both the KDE and Gnome implementations, so if this can be fixed it would make upgrades a bet less of an annoyance.
I know this isn't useful info, but I tried using /etc/apt/ preferences pinning on the xscreensaver package (no version, just o=Ubuntu) to a priority of 2001, and it didn't help any, the upgrade still wants to remove it. Seems like that should make some difference to me, but I'm not apt.
