Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Using 0.2.12 in maverick, when clicking on the search entry in the files or applications view the "Search" label is not cleared so you need to delete that before typing, that's suboptimal ;-)

The idea is to keep the search string, but filter it on the selected section - not to clear it. This is described in bug #598082

unduplicating the bug as discussed on IRC, the issue there is not that what is typed is preserved but that the initial "Search" label in the entry indicating the function of the widget is kept when the user select the entry which leads to doubt about what to do, ie should the text there be deleted? Will it be used in the search? Having "Searchunity" displayed when typing "unity" also is a bit weird even if the correct result would be listed

since I misunderstood this bug at first, it actually is affecting Unity as first reported
