maverick daily build unknown user id

I made a USB key of the maverick-desktop-i386.iso of June 27, md5sum b958c6cb384d40ddbaabccfc1608512a
and tried to boot a Dell D600, by waiting for it to launch itself and by selecting "Try Ubuntu without installing". In both cases I got a brief flash of the startup screen, then the message "GLib-WARNING ** : getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)"

The daily build for June 28, md5sum b593894eae2efe2cd156e07e78927105, does not have this problem.
