Bug Description

The default netbook skin does not fill the display when is in full screen mode, the working GUI fills about 10" of my 15" display, so the difference between normal and full screen is a 5" of useless black surface. Screenshot attached

Thanks Hiend,

Unfortunately we can't fix this problem easily. Mixxx skins are not capable of stretching so we can't do anything better than center it and make the window take up the whole screen. In the future we are going to rewrite our skinning system to accomodate resizable skins.

best,
RJ Ryan

Stéphane: you might want to try one of the new skins in Mixxx 1.8.0 that are closer to your screen size.

Maybe this bug could be changed to "make Mixxx skins flexible"? There are a tonne of different possible screen resolution, and it doesn't make much sense to make a new skin for each resolution. It also doesn't make much sense to waste screen real estate that could be used for showing more of the library, or showing more of the currently playing track (allowing more look ahead/behind). If the skins were left exactly as-is, but made flexible vertically by allowing the library to flex vertically, and made flexible vertically, by making the library and waveform displays to stretch horizontally and the space on the outside of the loop controls and sample decks to expand, then very little work would have to be done on existing skins, and they would suddenly work on *any* screen resolution bigger than that specified.

I have attached a screen shot showing the flexible regions described above marked in pink. Sorry about the horrible JPEG compression, I'm on a shaky connection.

Thanks for bumping this longstanding bug report.

Making skins more flexible is one of the top priorities for the upcoming v1.12 release. The work on the underlaying skin frame work has pretty much completed. You`ll be able to use collapsing/resizing/fullscreen skin features with the start of the beta testing phase. With the help of user feedback during the beta testing, we want to provide skins that covers most use cases.

Since 1.12.0 will not ship without skins that satisfy this bug and the code changes are already in place I'm marking this fixed.
