Bug Description

Ubuntu Lucid on Lenovo Ideapad U150 Laptop with Conexant CX20582 (Pebble) sound. Speakers and headphones work perfect; sound switched seamlessly to headphone when plugged into Jack.

I upgraded the Kernel and Alsa Drivers from Lucid Proposed Updates:
ali@ikarus:~$ uname -a
Linux ikarus 2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 07:54:58 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
ali@ikarus:~$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
Compiled on Jun 14 2010 for kernel 2.6.32-23-generic (SMP).

Internal Mic does not work at all, it seems to pick up crackling, popping noise only. External mic works a little bit better, but crackling and popping makes sound capture unintelligible. In the recording a baseline noise can be heard, but higher pitch crackling and popping is correlated with captured sounds.

I also tested the packages from ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa with kernel 2.6.32-22 and Kernel 2.6.34-5 from the PPA Kernel Team without success.

I compiled ALSA version 1.0.23 from sources using the following document as a guide:
http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/05/02/upgrade-alsa-1-0-23-on-ubuntu-lucid-lynx-10-04/

Before the upgrade only the following knobs were available in ALSA Mixer: Master, PCM, S/PDIF, Capture, Analog Mic Boost. After the upgrade another knob for Digital appeared.

After adjusting the knobs (Digital and Capture on 100%, Analog Mic Boost 20 db), sound capture on external mic works perfect, but internal mic does not work. Internal mic capture volume is very low, the only thing that is captured is popping and crackling noise.

I've just upgraded to Maverick. Out of the box, recording from external Mic works fine, while Internal Mic capture volume is very low and there is lots of popping and crackling noise.

I have the same issue on a Lenovo T410 i7 running Oneiric 64 bit - internal mic not working. Bluetooth headset or headset with jack does work. Internal mic worked earlier. Also - my computer dual boots wit Windows 7 and it does work with Windows 7 so the microphone is ok hardware-wise.
