bash_completion error messages on initial login to fresh Maverick instance on Amazon EC2

I created a brand new copy of the official Maverick alpha-1, 64-bit, us-east-1 AMI for Amazon EC2.

On ssh login, the following error messages spewed out before the command line prompt:
