Bug Description

When at the checkout, (either via paypal or credit card), 7d assumes I'm in the UK, which is wrong. It should integrate with my computer's locale, and should auto-populate the country field correctly.

When you go to the store home page, it should say what store you are using at the top (US, UK, etc.). Can you tell me that info? Thanks.

I see a header that says "US Top Picks" but I don't see anything locale-related other than that on the homepage.

A few things:
 - on the Paypal site, the country field is populated with the UK
 - on the Credit Card site, the form has a field for start date of my credit card, which we don't have in the US
 - on the Credit Card site, the form has a field for country which is defaulted to United Kingdom

Ah... I see what you mean. There is one payment path that is used by all stores around the world. To people in the US (and perhaps other regions), the extra credit card fields might look a little odd. There's a current bug open (bug #527961) about this and we're working with 7digital to figure out how to reduce the confusion (7digital hosts the payment process). Also, 7digital is a UK company so that's probably why fields are defaulting to the UK.

Eventually, we will transition most of the music store processes to a more customized user interface built by the Ubuntu One team. I'm currently planning that process. When this is complete, we will have much greater control and be able to implement tighter integration with the desktop (like locale settings). I'm going to mark this as a wishlist item to better represent locale dessktop settings.

Today, though, customers like you can purchase music by leaving some of the credit card fields blank (like start date) or login to PayPal with your standard credentials to be routed to the correct locale.
