That I could switch sound effects off

Crash and bug-buddy goes berzerk cause it dinna understand the bug

This was fixed in http://code.google.com/p/pychess/issues/detail?id=559 but Debian and Ubuntu don't have the latest package versions in their repos yet. You can install the latest from here though:
http://pychess.googlecode.com/files/pychess_0.10rc1-1_all.deb
