Bug Description

While trying to reproduce Bug #552800 in 10.04 Lucid, I ran into this error.

Steps to reproduce:
- Use usb-creator-gtk to create a usb bootable copy of the Lucid 32-bit installer
- Boot from the usb drive
- Run update-manager

What happens:
grub-pc asks which drive to install to, fails and does not
kernel installation error

What is expected:
Most users will expect the upgrade to go as seamlessly as on a regular installation of Ubuntu.
