Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

After the update to the 2.30.1 version (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/570736), gnome-keyring has stopped working in my system and on top of that is responding extremely slow.

When using seahorse, I get the message:

** Message: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files
** Message: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files
** (seahorse:2627): WARNING **: couldn't get default keyring name: Errow when communicationg with gnome-keyring-daemon.

after a *looong time* (> 1 min)

This makes several system components unusable:

* SVN: Trying to use svn takes looooong
* Evolution: The same.
* Empathy: I have lost the empathy account information and I am no longer able to create new accounts. Very slow as well.

As a partial workaround, I have reverted to the old version. This makes svn and evolution usable again, but not empathy.

Thank you very much!

Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and gnome-keyring 2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu2 0

thank you for your bug report. When did the issue start? What version do you downgrade to? Is the issue in 2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu1 or 2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu2 only? Do you have any special configuration? Does it happen for any user?

First of all, thank you very much for your assistance:

When updating to 2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu1

> What version do you downgrade to?

To version 2.92.92.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu3.

> Is the issue in 2.92.92.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu3 or 2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu2 only? [typo corrected]

2.92.92.is.2.30.1-0ubuntu2 only, I was not having any issue before. However, reverting to previous version fixes only the speed issue, not the functionality.

> Do you have any special configuration?

Corporate user authentification is done via Vintela:

 /opt/quest/bin/vastool -v
vastool: VAS Version 3.5.2.16
Copyright (c) 2009 Quest Software, Inc.

Except for that is a normal Ubuntu installation.

> Does it happen for any user?

Only for corporate users, not for local users. At least two users affected in different computers.

the issue could be fixed in bug #583428 in the case of no-password logins...

Apparently bug #583428 also fixes this problem, thank you. Update 2.92.92.is.2.30.3-0ubuntu fixes the issue.
