This is a bit scary as it turned babune red for all platforms including hardy (which I thought was pretty close to pqm config-wise).
The fix is simple (a typo s/read/recv/) and as discussed with spiv on IRC I'll land it asap.

It turns out PQM's test chroot does have paramiko installed... but doesn't have openssh-client. So the code relating to ferrying bytes from an SSH subprocess to paramiko's SFTPClient wasn't exercised. We're getting openssh-client installed there now.
