Bug Description

requirement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user
nox11 mode, ignoring PAM_TTY :0

Grazie anticipatamente.

Yes, sure (that is due to a question with no replies, previously maden in italian part of this site):

I've installed the original 10.04 LTS Lucid Ubuntu by the original CD requested by web, more than a week ago: I've 2 partitions, one karmic, one Lucid. Lucid was fantastic: I made all upgrades (requested & proposed), and I resolved many problems I had with Karmic, like using with network manager my 3G USB modem Alcatel X215S.
All was fine until I've installed:

sudo apt-get install skype

Next reboot this was the result:

requirement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user
nox11 mode, ignoring PAM_TTY :0

If I login, screen become blank fro a while and then again login screen. I've no way to enter with another user or with failsafe login (same effect), my display card IS NOT nVidia...I can only enter by CTRL-ALT-F1.
What a pity, when I make original question someone suggests me to de-install (purge) and reinstall gdm 2.30 and ubuntu-desktop; I don't know how to connect internet by command line, so i did it in this way:

1) download packages (and dependencies) by karmic
2) copy them on Lucid home
3) install them with dpkg

Now, there are some configuration problems declared by dpkg, and the only way to resolve seems

sudo apt-get install -f

, but no one replies me how to connect my 3G by command line; by the way, the gdm problem seems affects many others on lucid with different workaround, so it seems a bug on 2.30 release.
So, even I solve this configuration problem, how to solve GDM first problem? I've all logs to post here for more information.
Thanks in advance.

Well, after a lot of days (and 4 format), I've my own Lucid tuned and completely upgraded; more, I've finally find "the bug" by myself: my "wrong" was to tried to have not Evolution and any related lib as my mail client: IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!! If you remove program and all the related libs, one of them stop GDM with no way to restart it.
Like Microsoft had done before with Internet Explorer, may be Canonical decided to force every Lucid user to have Evolution installed, even not used (and Gwibber too: look how many related bugs...).

This is not exactly UBUNTU WAY...

However this system is really good, so I'll take in this way hoping for no more "Microsoft forced suggestions"...

Bug is solved to me, I leave others decide if to close it or not.
Thanks however to all that replied.
