Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
After using the system for some time, the whole desktop becomes unresponsive, and there are rendering artifacts where trying to open any of the menus (trying to use anything really).
The problem appears to be random. I believe the problem is with compiz as replacing it with metacity removed the problem.

I can confirm also that my desktop is very unresponsive with the latest ubuntu release 10.04. The issue seems to happen randomly and can be present right after boot-up or later. Since there are times when everything works responsive, I do not blame my processors performance capability.
It helped to switch the appearance preferences to None instead of Normal, but I do not yet have long term experience with that workaround.
