Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When the first line on a new page (non 8.5x11) needs to be a heading_2, the heading is improperly spaced down from the top of page. The problem appears with mostly with pages created from "insert manual page break" which have headers enabled.

Do not test this with Arial, Courier, or some other nearly fixed font. Test with Free Times, Liberation Serif, or some other book like font which has different spacing for different letters.

I'm running KUbuntu 10.04 64-bit AMD with all patches applied as of this morning.

seasoned_geek, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please attach a Writer file that demonstrates this problem? Does this issue occur in LibreOffice Writer?

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-writer

This bug was confirmed. I do not use Libre Office and cannot risk it
now. I believe the current release of OpenOffice has fixed it, but
cannot be sure.
I cannot risk "installing" Libre Office since it attempts to "upgrade"
OpenOffice and supported versions of OpenOffice are still being
distributed by KUbuntu repositories.

I just tested with this release of OpenOffice on KUbuntu 10.10 64-bit
AMD and the problem is fixed here.

OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
OOO320m19 (Build:9505)
ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1

I'm in the middle of writing several books and cannot possibly risk
trying LibreOffice since the install procedure appears to try and
"Upgrade" OO. I need OO in some kind of stable form to finish.
Currently Symphony from IBM is completely unusable on the Debian
platforms.

I just encountered this exact same bug again today.

OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
OOO320m19 (Build:9505)
ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1

all current updates applied.

Situation...I was near the very end of the first page of Chapter 2 7" x
9" 0.79 margins all around style default (so it did not have header).
Inserted manual page for the Chapter 2 even (same size and margins. Has
page header header (border with underline and running heading).
Selected first line of text, hit F-11, selected heading-2. It formatted
correctly, but drops down from top of page.

This bug used to happen all of the time, now seems to _only_ happen
which switching from default to a page style which has a border on top
for running page heading.
