firefox always starts in offline mode and says that can't browes the web

when i start firefox, it sometimes start with the home page i.e. google.com but when i start another tab it says that the firefox is in offline mode and i need to manually go to file menu and uncheck the Work Offline, then refresh it and then work fine until i restart the firefox and the same thing happens again please, help.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Fresh install of 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Deselected Firefox updates before applying upgrades (as was going to use Google Chrome). Had NOT applied any upgrades. Firefox then wouldn't allow access to the internet & would check offline. Even when offline deselected, Firefox wouldn't allow internet access.
