The problem occurs again when i use firefox in safe mode like requested.

I installed the chrome and the chromium in my sistem for testing that problem and with this programs the bug don't happening...

With the firefox (normal and safe-mode), sometimes the bug occur instantly when i put de mouse over the picture board (that expands), another times, the bug only happen after some time moving the mouse over the picture.

I activated the keyboard sequence crl+alt+backspace for kill X when the bug happen, but that doesn't work because the sistem totally freeze (I can only move the mouse, and he moves slowly).

hope to help...

Thank you for your attention

Well, this bug also afects me... I bumped into it and tryed it in my firefox... And bang!!! The system also freezes, exactly as described.
It is pretty annoyng because since I got this bug i'm obcessed w/ that site... And I go there everytime my system updates.
Besides, linux time-line seems really cool, and I would really like to examine that site further... I really enjoy Ubuntu, it is really better that Windows (this weeked I log into my windows, just to play PES and... Bang, BSOD -.- ), still, not being able to carefully explore that site its driving me nuts... And I'm thinking of changing distro, or even return to windows.

Sincerely,

MRP

The problem is still happening even after updating to the latest version of firefox.

My current version of firefox is:

apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Instalado: 3.6.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
  Candidato: 3.6.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     3.6.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://pt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

In the few minutes I tried again this site and the error happened again.

The problem mainly happens when the site is still loading and i put the mouse over the image.

Thx for your atention.

Thank you for the update. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

hello.

After turning off all extensions and plugins, I tested again this site and the problem happened again ...

This is very strange because sometimes the freeze is immediate and others only happens after some time ... Another thing I have to point out is that when i put the mouse over the image gets the cpu load very high.

Also tried in another PC with a new installation and the problem happened.

I hope to be able to help in the detection and resolution of this problem.

Respects

I'm confirming this as I experienced the same thing. I'm guessing some type of hidden window is created that fills/covers the screen.
