non us keyboard settings lost after install menu 2.1.41ubuntu1

I had (until yesterday) my Swedish layout working in a terminal with the extra non-english letters: åäöÅÄÖ.
After the install of the package 2.1.41ubuntu1 yesterday, the characters I got in a terminal are now: [';{":

Temporary User Fix: In XFCE menu <Applications><Settings><Keyboard>
          Add your (lost) local keyboard layout, and enable it.

To confirm the bug, run: sudo aptitude install menu
Log out, log in and the keyboard layout is lost again.

An addition to the seen bug behavior.
The user work around is not persistent between system restarts.

To add to the last comment, if and only if keeping only one keyboard layout, the user fix is indeed persistent.
Just delete the us keyboard layout alternative such that there is only one alternative left in the list.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Maverick Meerkat. I did attempt to reproduce this issue in an installed version of Maverick. I was not able to reproduce the issue.
