Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

I have been using linux for about 15 years now, 8 on my personal machine but this one seems to be cooking my noodle to figure it out. It doesn't seem to matter whether I in any particular program, suddenly I will have no keyboard input except of course old faithful (Control - Alt - Backspace). Mouse input continues to work just perfectly.

I have created a text doc on my desktop using the mouse and opened it... typed (blindly) and did a save with my mouse, restarted x and checked to see if the file was updated and that I couldn't see the updates occurring but the file remained empty after x restart so I don't believe its a screen update issue with Nvidia. Desktop effects (compiz) are disabled as well.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Please provide the general information requested at [1] as separate attachments, and also the files requested "In case some keys of your keyboard don't work (as expected)".

If your keyboard doesn't work at all you could use the Gnome On-screen Keyboard or try to attach another one.

thanks.
