nodejs is a clean fast open source library on top of chrome V8 js engine. http://nodejs.org/

it is already in maverick https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nodejs

nodejs depends on libv8-dev (>=2.2.7) and Lucid has only 2.0.3 version.

ok meanwhile i maintains a ppa with nodejs on lucid

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jerome-etienne/neoip && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nodejs
