Those three filters extract either the Red, the Green and the Blue Channel of an image, and produce a grey scale image of the respective color channel. So I think that the naming of the effect is wrong, rather then it´s not being applied correctly. Maybe changing the name to Extract Blue, Extract Green and Extract Red is more accurate?

I'm open to any naming suggestions. I really do not understand what these filters would be used for. They all 3 produce very similar effects. I tried to find more details, and even looked at the source code for them, but I still can't figure out why I would need them. Any thoughts?

There was a comment from Dan somewhere about these 3 effects, I think he may have suggested replacements. I'll try and track it down.

I have put the hypotheses that was a bad build of the Ubuntu version of Frei0r-plugins.
Why ? because it seems that just only the Lucid users are affected. I have had a list of the effects who works and not, i have put the link of the forum from a person who have tested on an Archlinux the effects (he was having at the beginning ot the thread an OpenSuse !) and give me a feedback of the effects who don't work. And it was different (just a few in the second solution) but i don't remember where i have put in the bug tracker. Which one ? Where is it ?

Dan's suggestion was to drop these and replace them with 3 new frei0r effects: tint0r, curves & three_point_balance. The problem is, as they are new, they will not be in most distros packages of frei0r. Not sure where that leaves us on this one...

I also don't think these effects are very useful as stand-alone filters. If you compare it to Gimp for example, you have a decompose command which extracts the color channels to a greyscale image with 3 layers (Red, Green and Blue). Then you can adjust each channel separately as needed and then you have to compose the image back to a single layer image.
So I guess this filter has to be used in combination with other filters/effects to be useful.

While I was browsing the frei0r mailing list I found this: http://piksel.no/pipermail/frei0r-devel/2007-November/000346.html
If I understand it correctly there is also some kind of a mixer plugin needed (RGB.c) to make this work?

I have removed these 3 filters, due to all the reasons already discussed. We now have more color options, and these 3 filters just don't really do anything useful. Thanks.
