JP2 JPEG2000 files nuke desktop

Bug Description

When attempting to download a JP2 file whether by firefox or sftp, or presumably any method, to the home directory or Downloads directory (or presumably any directory under home) kio_thumbnail processes almost immediately consume all available memory and very high CPU, leading to a situation where the desktop is so unresponsive that no method besides hardware power-off will resolve it. Since firefox resumes downloads, it will happen again immediately when firefox is restarted, even if the files are removed.

It seems like some indexing process (nepomyuck?) is at fault.

I am using Kubuntu 10.04 w/ all latest updates on x86_64.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
