Please implement gnome's notification-area

Bug Description

I noticed that battery-status can run as an applet, window or on Ubuntu's indicator-applet, but not on gnome's notification-area (or system-tray, whatever name they call it).

Some of us don't really use a panel (now I use AWN) but don't want to lose battery-status :) Also, if it is capable of running on the system-tray, it will also be useful on KDE.

In the end, if you implement it, all gnome and KDE users will be benefited, maybe more, since I think system-tray is a freedesktop protocol.

Please! :)

Hello. Thanks for stay tuned! ;-)
At first, I would like mark this bug as won't fix.
But I've thought over it and I think that your suggestion pretty reasonable - notification area is going to be deprecated only in Ubuntu, meanwhile such distributions, as Fedora and Debian keep using it, as some desktop environments either (I mean Gnome Shell - although it's brand new environment, it has support of notification area at present time).
So, thanks for this idea, but I'm not promise, that this feature will be released very soon.

No problem, time is precious, thanks for the understanding the point of view I presented.
