Bug Description
My MP3 player is a USB mass storage device. It happens to have a top level folder called 'Pictures', which I can't rename. (I renamed it to 'Not Pictures' and then the device automatically recreated a 'Pictures' folder.) Apparently the presence of a folder called 'Pictures' means it's a Photo CD, not an MP3 player.
Ok, so I told Gnome how to handle Photo CDs: In Edit->Preferenc
1. Distro: Running Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic).
2. Package: Not sure if this is a bug in nautilus, gnome, or something else.
3. Expected: A nautilus folder viewer should open.
4. What happens: F-Spot opens instead.
Final note: I just tried setting it to 'Ask me what to do' and F-Spot still opens. I get no prompt when the device is connected.

In File Management Preferences, I found that I was probably tweaking the wrong setting. Under "Other Media", I had to find "Picture CD" in the Type combo box, and then change Action to "Open Folder" (it was set to Open F-Spot). After doing this, the MP3 player opens in a folder viewer as expected.
Chalk this up to confusing UI (separate setting for Photos and 'Picture CD') leading to user error, sparked by a bug that identifies my MP3 player as a Picture CD: https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ nautilus/ +bug/258936
