Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Quadrapassel is silent, regardless of whether the "Enable sound" box in the Preferences is ticked or not.

Sound in other apps works fine: for example, Firefox, VLC media player, Ltris, Anagramarama, Cuyo, Monsterz.

I checked that the master Gnome volume control is not muted.

This problem has been consistent ever since I installed Lucid on its launch day.

Correction: I wrongly stated above that the problem with Quadrapassel has existed since Lucid launch day, but I didn't install Quadrapassel until later. The timestamp on the Quadrapassel program file on my system is 2010-04-13.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have tried to reproduce this in Maverick and had no problems, but could you test this with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Maverick Meerkat. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

OK, I tried it in Maverick Alpha 1 and I'm pleased to report that sound is working. Unfortunately the game is unplayable because of a graphics bug, but I suppose that's not relevant to this thread.
