Bug Description

Main Frustrating detected today when I loaded the OS today itself
I am a newbie to Ubuntu Netbook edition 10.04 lts.It seems my cheese, camorama or any chat apps doesn't detect integrated webcam on my Lenevo s10-3 netbook.(I am having no experience at the terminal)
Other requests:
1. In ubuntu 10.10 please increase the plug and play support ,automatic driver database detection when connected to net such as in windows 7.
2. Virtualisation support for mac applications (.dmg files etc).
3. Good Performance video playback in atom processers and little bit improved GUI
If you kindly see into this matter and clear the present problems and also future ones if they arrise I would be a very happy
as I like this OS for its security, speed, beauty and the meaning the word UBUNTU holds"Humanity to others or all".I hope
this will surpass Windows in the near future.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in linux.
(With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the appropriate package by opening the application's "Help" menu and choosing "Report a Problem". https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs)

Sandipan Datta, since the "Other requests" you submitted are not really bugs, or problems, but rather an idea to improve Ubuntu, you are invited to post your idea in Ubuntu Brainstorm at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/ where it can be discussed, voted by the community and reviewed by developers. Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion!

Hi Sandipan,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 590174

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Jeremy Foshee,

I guess that Sandipan is not watching status of this bug. If you check he even have not sent kernel-logs that was done by mine instead.
This bug is still actual on whole Lenovo S9 or S10 series. Well, i am not sure what is the problem with camera, but i would love it to be fixed.

As long as i use my laptop for work i have no time and no ability to participate in testing of unstable releases.

Btw, i thought that LL is LTS version, so you can't just say that, please check for a newer unstable version.

Because on my laptop i have local development server installed i do not plan to upgrade system until its support expires.

Please, do something with this issue. I am willing to use my web camera. This is kind of important to me because i live far away from my family now and would love talk to them without any problem.

Regards,
Alex.
