Bug Description

I have freshly installed Ubuntu Edgy Knot2 and installed Amarok.
When i want to play an MP3-file i can click on "Install MP3 support". This does not work. In console i get:

/usr/lib/amarok/install-mp3: 34: kdesu: not found
/usr/lib/amarok/install-mp3: 34: kdialog: not found

Would it be possible to solve this?
Thanks in advance.

Installing the package libxine-extracodecs surely makes it possible to play MP3s though.

would you be running gnome, by any chance?

also, can you paste the outputs of:

"locate kdesu"
and
"locate kdialog"

Please?
Thanks.

Thank you for this very fast answer.
Sure, Ubuntu comes with Gnome :).
locate kdesu and locate kdialog doesn't give any output. These programs aren't installed with the installation of amarok.

current thoughts:

have a thing saying "if gnome, use gksudo whatever"
test for kdesu && adept, test for gksudo && synaptic, else use konsole, else use gnome-terminal, else use xterm
it should also test if the person is in the admin group anyway, if not they can't install

This sounds good to me.
With Ubuntu installed it should automatically be able to use gksudo.

Just uploaded a better script.
It will use gnome if gnome stuff is installed or xterm + Xdialog if something else, like for xubuntu.
Thanks for reporting if any problem.
