Editing a mask or clip Shape object doesn't work

When a shape object (rectangle, ellipse, star) is used as a clipping or a masking object the Node tool edit clip or mask options don't work. They work as expected when the clipping or masking object is a path.

It worked in 0.47 so it's a regression, although it was probably implemented differently.

Tested on 9456, linux.

Reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.
Not reproduced with 0.48.1, 0.48.2, 0.48.3.1 and revision 11649.
