Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

Setup system Ubuntu Server LTS 10.4

following the gui i expirienced a few problems:

OpenLDAP (slapd: 2.4.21-0ubuntu5)
ldapscripts: 1.9.0-1

using the guide from https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html i expected a walkthrough which would lead to a minimal configured LDAP server, instead:

1) the step "Setting up ACL" doesnt work at all and all what i got was an ldap credential error.

2) in "User and Group Management" the mentioned "ldapscripts" contain another bug which is in the file /usr/share/ldapscripts/runtime.debian
This file overrides the previously defined SUFFIX, GSUFFIX, USUFFIX and MSUFFIX values which causes the script not to work. additionally the only way i got the package to work was to set the BINDPWD explicitly and discard the BINDPWDFILE setting. to make the ldapscripts work i replaced the runtime.debian file with an empty copy.

best wishes
Chronos
