When I tried to open the attached PDF on my desktop, evince closes it straight away. So I use bash and type evince 03.pdf. The same happened, but with a message "Floating point exception".

By the way, I have tried opening the file using Adobe Reader in Windows XP - there was no problem.

As a workaround you can use okular.

I've had the same kind of problem with different files and okular was able to open the pdf file without any problem.

Attaching the stacktrace for the file 03.pdf, given at comment #3. Followed the instrcutions from here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace .
Only libpixman-1-0-dbg has been installed, as arithmetic exception happens in that library.
After starting evince with the test file, a scroll down is needed, in order to trigger this bug.

Note that some pdf files generated by older openoffice can also trigger this bug.

I'm having a similar problem with an invoice. I cannot attach the PDF as it contains personal data, but I'm attaching the GDB backtrace.

Hey, "fixed in maverick" isn't really a useful answer. 10.04 is LTS, and I've got pdfs that don't open. Upgrading to maverick is NOT an option.

@Pedro Villavicencio
Since this creates a major usability problem in an important package in Lucid, can this be nominated for fixing in lucid-updates?
