Bug Description

Binary package hint: prism

I installed prism-google-talk. When I ran it it crashed in various ways, mostly when asking me whether it should remember my password (as it happened on the apport crash report I'm attaching) but sometimes even at start. I made some further tests and this crash was not peculiar of prism-google-talk but common to most other prism apps.

Running prism-google-talk from the command line I saw that it outputs:

"Attempting to load the system libmoon"

just before crashing and thus I tried and removed moonlight with apt-get remove moonlight-plugin-mozilla. I also trashed ~/.prism, for the sake of safety. After I did that prism-google-talk started working. To my surprise it kept working even after I re-added moonlight.

Other prism apps did work too, although not everything. Of all the apps in the repository only one seems to work perfectly when moonlight-plugin-mozilla is installed: prism-facebook .

These other work provided you launch them for the first time when no moonlight plugin is installed:

prism-google-calendar
prism-google-groups
prism-google-mail
prism-google-talk

Finally, these always crash if moonlight is installed:

prism-google-analytics
prism-google-docs
prism-google-reader
prism-twitter

Obviously this could be a moonlight bug as well, but as I have no evidence pointing either to prism or moonlight I decided to follow apport advice to file it as a prism bug, so here it is.

I just realized that the crash happens in IcedTea (or so the backtrace says). I checked gmail and analytics and it seems to me that they don't use java, so that's a bit puzzling.
