Bug Description

I can't bind the <Super>s keyboard shortcut to anything. This isn't doable through System>>Preferences>>Keyboard Shortcuts nor trough CompizConfig Settings Manager. When I press this combination I get a menu at the top right of Ubuntu's screen that shows various options for ending the current session (logout, shutdown, restart, etc.).

To reproduce the bug:

1. Enter System>>Preferences>>Keyboard Shortcuts.
2. Bind <Super>s (or Mod4+s as it sometime is referred to) to any command that you like.
3. Observe that <Super>s does not do what you intend it to do.

Reproducible here. Looks like internal usage overrides any keybinding.

Super + S is meant to be used by the session menu, but that's not a bug though

affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) → indicator-session (Ubuntu)

I want to inform you that the problem has disappeared for me. I can no longer reproduce it.

It is a fresh installation of Ubuntu that I have, and I observed that bug before the long list of initial updates you do.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Sorry for doing this again, but the bug is back! So the long series of updates I did to Ubuntu packages did not solve this.

I also consider this as a bug: super+s used to be my favorite shortcut to toggle play/pause in amarok:D Any ideas?

This is definitely a bug. It needs the ability to be configured in the keyboard shortcut tool.

I'm also having this problem. On one computer (an ancient desktop, I don't know the specs) <Super>s toggles window transparency (I can't seem to find that key binding in either the gnome settings or compiz - opacify is turned off)

On the Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop it gives the menu box no matter what key bindings I assign.

Both computers are set up almost identically with Lucid Lynx.

A work around is available - actually, to be more accurate, I was able to assign <Super>s to what I wanted in System-Preferences-Keyboard Shortcuts

For those interested in window transparency, there is a program in the software center called transset-df. Install this, then make a key binding to the command /usr/bin/transset-df -p -t 0.3 to toggle transparency to 30%
