simple scan crashes on HP PSC1210xi

I'm having this reproducible error where Simple Scan will close.

Computer: Toshiba Satellite M305-S4910
Edition: Linux Mint 9 (Isadora) x64 Edition
Scanner: HP PSC-1210xi all-in-one

When I open Simple Scan, I go to Document/Preferences and set the photo resolution to 1200 dpi. Then I put a picture on the flatbed and close it. Then I hit the "scan" button on Simple Scan. When the picture is all scanned - but before it gets finished all the way - I hit the "stop" button on Simple Scan. Then I crop the picture, save it, go to Document/New. The page on the screen blanks out, and I put a new photo on the flatbed. Then I hit "scan" on Simple Scan again. Most of the time, the program will just disappear, and I have to restart it and re-set the photo resolution before continuing.

And that is my bug report.

could you try and not crop it? then try and not save it? then try and not go to document/new? then all combinations thereof? i want to know if it can be traced down to fewer operations...
