Installer says "Critical Temperature reached (0 C)"

Bug Description

After linux is unpacked I get bug 54294, which has been there (at least) since 6.06. Then I get:

[17179582.0320001] Critical temperature reached (0 C), shutting down.
The system is going down now !!
Sending SIGTERM

...etc

I find this bug is still present in the Daily Build ISO of edgy for 10th September.

Experienced exactly the same critical temperature problem with installed Dapper kernel on an HP dv5178us (with NVidia GeForce GO graphics) Removing the thermal module listing in /etc/default/acpid was the workaround to boot successfully.

The issue was resolved by updating the laptop BIOS to version F.13 A, after which the max critical temperature setting is 99 C, not 0 C.

A bit quick there Ben... give me a chance to try it.
Yes this must have been a bios bug - upgrading bios fixed it. An interesting problem is how would I have been able to flash the new bios without having windows installed?
