Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

I am using ubuntu 9.10. I got 10.04 from Netherlands. But when I wanted to install it by restarting the computer with the cd in the drive, I got the following message: "Unable to load, unsupported WMI interface" after which there was only a blank screen and I had to press the on/off button of the computer to turn the computer off.

Hi vengudi,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 586391

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I tried to download the ISO image frm the site suggested by you, but
even that was not possible as the download gets interrupted when the
download is almost complete (98%) I tried twice with a lot of patience!
I also tried the command from the terminal suggested by you. Sometime
ago I even tried updating to 10.04 from the update page of Ubuntu.
It took a long time but ultimately failed. I had to re install 9.10 as
the update caused difficulties in loading Ubuntu. Any suggention?,

Regards

Vengudi Sridharan.

Hi,

Thanks.

I still am unable to install ubuntu 10.04. I am not sure if I should
take the update to 10.04 option from the update manager as it caused
problem last time I did it and I had to re install 9.10 once again. Any
suggestion?

Vengudi Sridharan.
