Bug Description

I have strange error during gnome-shell enabling:

so, then i use following command

$ gnome-shell -r

output is:

Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 195.36.15,
but this NVIDIA driver component has version 195.36.24. Please make
sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components
have the same version.

CUDA_SDK_example Edit (608 bytes, text/plain)

I get the same error when I try to run a CUDA example, the output is in the attachment.

I'm using ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 with the current nvidia driver from the official repo.

Same error when I use VMware, the virtual machine runs but whitout hardware acceleration.

Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 195.36.15,
but this NVIDIA driver component has version 195.36.24. Please make
sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components
have the same version.

Agreed, reboot solves the problem. So update should have been marked as "restart required", but at this point I think the bug should just be marked resolved.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
