Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx: 2.6.32-22-generic-pae

Tried to install xubuntu-desktop and ended up with about 9 uninstallable packages.
after trying "dpkg --configure -a, apt-get install -f, apt-get update/ upgrade",
had to run a partial distro upgrade and ended up with 2 uninstallable packages, this being
one of them.

E: lxdm: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: a2ps: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Still can't install them, though they show as being installed in synaptic, strange?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal ( Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal ) :

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid. Thanks in advance!

It would also be helpful if you could attach /var/log/dpkg.log and /var/log/dpkg.log.1 to this report.

This is reported in bu 512096. It requires manual steps described in the master report to workaround the problem.
I'm marking this report as duplicate.
