If the maintainer is the only one who can upgrade this package, and he doesn't have the time to do it, then it could last a while I guess.

Is there any workaround? I am dead in the water here - cannot upgrade to 2.6.18. This should be given "blocker" priority.

If you have this urgency, you can install the debian unstable package, I used it for 2.6.18, it works.

    the 2.6.18 kernel.
