Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have this option enabled, but I think it has stopped working after an update. It doesn't play mp3, neither ogg. Totem works correctly.

If you open up the sound preferences/applications tab, you will see audio preview appear when you hover over the nautilus media file icon, but the seek/status button doesn't move and of course no sound is heard.

The image/video previews are OK in Nautilus, just the sound previews don't work. Unfortulatelly, I have no idea on which day did the messy update take place. Does anybody know, which concrete package this is related to?

Changed in nautilus (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released

I had to wait for an update to solve it. I have all the repositories enabled (proposed, unsupported too). But if no luck, u could try to reinstall Nautilus and gstreamer.

I have no idea why this happens. But I found a solution after about 5 minutes.
Go to System > Preferences > Sound
Go to the Applications tab
Keep that open and open a nautilus window with a sound file
Hover your mouse over the sound file, but keep the sound preferences window active.
After a second, you will see a seek bar called Audio Preview. Do not move your mouse.
Use your down arrow button to go down to the seek bar, then use the right arrow button to move it to 100%. That should do it.
