Bug Description

Binary package hint: nsis

When I use nsis 2.46-1 (on Ubuntu 10.04) with default compression (zlib), it results in unusable installer. I my case, some jar archives seems to be corrupted.
When I compile the script, either without compression or lzma or bzip2, there is no problem at all.
When I compile the same script with the Windows version of nsis 2.46, and there is no problem at all (even with th zlib compression)

I see that a patch concerning zlib has been commited for version 2.46-2, does it fix the problem I encountered ?

Ok, it's fixed with the package 2.46-2...but when the update will be available on Lucid ???

@sylvain,

Can you please confirm that this bug is fixed in the 2.46-2 after actually using that version on Ubuntu. It should be possible to install the package from maverick on lucid machine if the dependencies are not too tight.

Hi Onkar,

I've just tried to compile and execute the installer with the 2.46-2 version (no problem to install it). I confirm that the fix works fine on Ubuntu. I think we could close this issue.
So, will an update be provided for on lucid lynx ?

@sylvina,

I discovered this issue myself few days ago when I was testing embedding GTK+ installer in our own app's installer. The script had worked fine in Karmic and stopped working in Lucid. Since I was in hurry to create installer for testing purposes I used lzma compression.
I will try to get the fix in Lucid provided the fix is not too intrusive.

The bug is fixed in the version in Maverick. We need to backport the fix to Lucid.

Since this problem is fixed in maverick and upstream and the package nsis-2.46-1 is nearly unusable, please backport nsis-2.46-2 to lucid within a reasonable amount of time.

If there's anything I can help with in preparing the backported package, please come back to me.

  TIA and best regards, Wolfgang
