Bug Description

Version number: 788
Chapter and page number: Prologue, page 7 (page 9 of the PDF)
Type: Formatting

The URL for the Ubuntu help page is truncated. Not a big deal, but I thought it might be a good idea to rectify it.

This also occurs elsewhere in the manual, for example, in the margin comments on page 9 (page 11 of the PDF).

Can you point to a specific example of a URL being truncated? I'm not noticing it on my end. Which PDF viewer are you using? (I'm using Evince. Do you see the same problem in Evince?)

Sorry, wrong word. I meant that the URL was cut between the http:// and the rest of the address, which looks a bit messy. I'm using Evince, by the way. Sorry about the confusion.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, breaking URLs tends to be a bit messy regardless of how you choose to do it. We're trying to follow the Chicago Manual of Style rules on this, which do allow for line breaks to occur after the slashes.

Oh, okay. I'll keep that in mind -- didn't know we were using the Chicago Manual.

No problem. It's never really been announced or made official. But since I'm going to start working on our own style guide soon, I figured I may as well start laying out some rules now. :)
