jpilot-sync complains of missing symbols

Bug Description
Can sync OK using the jpilot GUI, but the command "jpilot-sync" does not work if jpilot-backup or jpilot-plugins are installed.
The error message is:
jpilot-sync: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/
if jpilot-plugins is installed
jpilot-sync: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/
if jpilot-backup is installed without jpilot-plugins
Versions: jpilot 0.99.7-
jpilot-plugins 0.99.7-
jpilot-backup 0.51-1
Palm device: Zire 31 (just in case that matters)
